A few problems but… flying along wonderfully!!

So, I burnt my fabric and it’s coming along great.. Have only half burnt it so I need to finish it off with the organza over the top but I’m finding it difficult to get a day where the weather outside isn’t raining or windy. I need to do it outside because the fumes are pretty bad.

I have however used the burnt fabric and sewed it onto one of my garments. It is a lot easier to sew than I thought it would be and I quite like the impact it creates on the garment.

I have finished 4 of the garments and started all the others so I’m moving along well. I will hopefully start playing around with the burnt fabric next week and maybe adding bits and pieces to make my designs a bit more interesting and different.

I have already changed one of my designs slightly as I wasn’t happy and convinced that it was the best piece. I pulled out my old designs and found something that I liked much better. My teachers also thought that it was a better option and stronger look for my collection. Fortunately I can still use the base of the dress that I had started to make for it so it’s not setting me back at all.

I also had a problem with one of my fabrics which couldn’t be found anywhere so I decided to settle for something different. I made up the simple little dress AND THEN I found my first choice of fabric. So I now have the same dress in two fabrics and can choose which one I am going to go with. I like having the option to choose cos they are both quite different and can change the look of my collection.

But for now its back to the sewing machine and heat gun.. Moving along fast full of smiles.
